Ross and Sammie on their wedding day in Cyprus, 2025
How it began

Our Story

It started with a wedding in Cyprus, and a craving we couldn’t shake.

Somerset Sizzlers began with a shared love for Greek culture, food and the memories it has given us over the years. After getting married in Cyprus in 2025, we continued to travel across the Greek islands, each trip deepening our appreciation for the flavours, hospitality and laid-back warmth that make Greek cuisine so special.

When we returned home, we found ourselves missing the simple pleasure of authentic Greek street food — the kind that’s fresh, generous, full of flavour and served with heart. With Ross’s passion for cooking and our shared love of hosting, we realised we wanted to bring a taste of those experiences back to the UK.

What sets us apart is the personal touch behind everything we do. For us, this isn’t just catering — it’s sharing a part of our story, and bringing the sunshine and warmth of Greek street food to every event.

The four of us

Meet the Team

Two founders, two mates, one trailer.

Rossen (Ross) Stanislavov-Starr

Co-Founder & Head of Flavour

Born in Bulgaria and in the UK since he was six, Ross has loved food for as long as he can remember — the flavours, the aromas, and the way it brings people together. He leads on flavour, cooking and food development.

Samantha (Sammie) Stanislavov-Starr

Co-Founder & Operations Lead

Born and raised in Bristol, North Somerset, Sammie brings strong local roots and community spirit. She leads on operations, compliance, food safety, documentation and customer experience — the reason we run as tightly as we do.

Adrian Langdon

Co-Founder & Menu Development Director

Trained and worked as a chef in a Bristol hotel before a career in sales and customer service. Adrian helps shape the menu and the food we offer, and is often found in the trailer working the grill.

Christopher (Chris) Tunks

Head of Brand Strategy & PR

Years of marketing experience with major London brands, plus a background in sales and sports coaching. Chris supports branding, communication and customer engagement, mainly through social media.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can’t see your question? Drop us a message — we’re always happy to help.

Ask us on WhatsApp
Which areas do you cover, and do you travel outside Somerset?

Our home patch is North Somerset and Bristol, and we travel much further than most people expect — Bath, Taunton, Yeovil and the wider South West, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Dorset and Devon, across the Severn into South Wales, up towards the Midlands and across to the South Coast. Travel charges apply outside our home patch, and for smaller bookings a long trip may not be viable — but ask and we’ll tell you straight.

Do you cater weddings?

Yes, weddings are one of the things we do most. We can serve as a main meal or as evening food, and the trailer works just as well in a field or a marquee car park as it does on hard standing. Guests order at the hatch, so there’s no formal service to organise. There’s more on our Greek wedding catering page.

Do guests pay for their own food, or do we pay for everything?

Either works. At public events and some private ones we trade pay-as-you-go, so guests buy their own. For weddings and parties, most people pre-pay so guests eat free. Tell us which you’d prefer when you enquire and we’ll quote accordingly.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on your menu, guest numbers, location and how long you need us. Send us your date and rough headcount and we’ll come back with a tailored quote — no obligation.

Can you cater for vegan, vegetarian and other dietary needs?

Yes — vegetarian and vegan options are part of the normal menu rather than an afterthought. Falafel is vegan, halloumi is vegetarian, and both come as a wrap, a box or loaded fries with fresh Greek salad. Sides include houmous (vegan), Greek salad and tzatziki. We take allergen awareness seriously, so tell us what you need when you enquire and we’ll plan the menu around it.

How far in advance should I book?

As early as you can, particularly for weekend dates in peak season — get in touch and we’ll check availability for your date.

What kind of events do you cater for?

Weddings, private parties and celebrations, corporate and workplace catering, sports clubs, markets, festivals, community events and baby showers. If it needs feeding, we can probably help. There’s more detail on our wedding, party and corporate catering pages.

What’s on the menu?

Greek and Middle Eastern street food. Choose chicken gyros, halloumi or falafel — or the Ultimate Sizzlers with all three — served as a wrap, a box or loaded fries, with sides, salads and homemade tzatziki alongside. For specific events we can also bring souvlaki, baklava, orange pie, feta and spinach pie and bougatsa.

What pitch space does the trailer need?

We generally need a minimum pitch of 20ft × 8ft, with safe access for manoeuvring and serving. If you’re not sure whether your space works, ask us and we’ll advise.

Do you need power on site?

No. We’re fully self-sufficient and bring our own generator, so we don’t need access to external power. If your venue restricts generator use, let us know in advance so we can plan around it.

How long do you need to set up?

Typically 1–1.5 hours to set up and a similar time to pack down, though it varies with the venue and access arrangements.

Can you operate in bad weather?

We operate in most conditions, though extreme weather can affect safety or service. If that looks likely we’ll discuss alternatives or adjustments with you in advance.

Do you provide waste disposal?

Where possible we manage our own food-related waste. General event waste and recycling are usually the organiser’s responsibility unless agreed otherwise.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, a deposit secures your date. The remaining balance is due by the agreed deadline stated in your booking form.

Are you food-hygiene rated and insured?

We hold a 5-star food hygiene rating from North Somerset Council, with positive feedback on our food safety documentation, and we’re members of NCASS (the Nationwide Caterers Association). Sammie leads on compliance and food safety.
